Another fallout question: Does Hunter still owe the taxes? Is a tax debt a civil account or a criminal debt? Istm that Hunter still owes the taxes and interest although not necessarily to penalties.
AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT BIDEN: SUPPORTING YOUR DECISION TO PARDON HUNTER
Trump turned pardons into tools of corruption, shielding cronies and stacking courts to protect himself. Biden’s decision to pardon Hunter is a stand against the GOP's weaponization of justice.
Really interesting; thanks. Wrt Nixon, Politico (of all places) made some comparisons potentially useful in all of our continuing ruminations and observing what happens next. ("We haven't seen a pardon as sweeping...")
The differences for H Biden versus RM Nixon include that Nixon's crimes were tied to elections in which he was ineligible to run, and a long list of others had already been prosecuted. The Biden crime syndicate is sprawling and unindicted. While I think the time has passed (and the precedent should not be continued) for prosecuting the senile old man, despicable as he is, every single other individual involved -- whether in or out of govt -- ought to be in the dock before spending a considerable amount of time in prison. HB will testify fully and completely, else those will be crimes after 2024 that must be prosecuted.
That's not vengeance for Trump; that's simple justice, as the American people need to see it done.
